Utah Sister Trip

On Wednesday, my sister Jami and I drove my grandma up to Utah to her 60th High School reunion.
I know...60 YEARS. Pretty neat.
After what felt like the LONGEST drive of my life, (but still enjoyable), we dropped grandma off at her sister Darlene's house in Pleasant Groves, then headed down to Provo to stay with Pop Pop and Jody.

We woke up Thursday and drove up to Salt Lake to spend some time at the Salt Lake temple. Neither of us had been inside besides to do baptisms, so it was really neat! We both enjoyed it.

After the temple we walked over to City Creek mall for some lunch and a little shopping, then headed back down to Provo before traffic got too bad!

The Prothero's came and met us in Provo for dinner at Shoots, and boy oh boy was it delicious :)
After dinner we went back to Pop Pop's and got all set up for a Little Ms. Lex bead party.
The weather was beautiful, and it was so fun to sit and visit with family.

Friday morning we woke up and went for a walk/jog up the hill.
After showering we ran a few errands, including a trip to the BYU bookstore for chocolate covered cinnamon bears and mint truffles, then stopped at Ripples for lunch!
(it just isn't a trip to Utah if you don't stop at Ripples.)

My brother-in-law Matt came and met up with us at Ripples, and it was so fun to sit and chat with him! (As much as I hate to admit it...I think that was the most words I've ever spoken to Matt. haha!) I sure do love that Camp family :)

We spent the remainder of Friday afternoon wandering around University mall, where Jami and I both found a cute new Sunday dress, and a few other fun items.  (count on Utah to have modest clothing! thank goodness.)
For dinner we stopped at Cafe Rio, then hit up Target for a little more shopping' and to walk off our dinner.

Saturday morning we packed up and hit the road at the bright and early hour of 5:30 a.m. It was a complete down-pour for the first 3 hours of the drive...and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. (Us AZ drivers don't have a lot of experience with rain, ya know?) But we made it! And as soon as the sun decided to come out, driving in the rain got a whole lot easier.

It was a fun trip, and much needed sister time!!

Thanks for the memories Jay.
Thanks Pop Pop and jody for letting us stay with you.
And thanks Grandma for trusting me to drive you to and from Utah! :)

Hooray for family!

Senior Trip

Last week Tyler and I got to take my little sister Holly and her friend McKenzie to California to celebrate Holly's freedom from high school.

Holly's one wish was to go to the Vans Surf Open, so we hopped in Tig and headed to Huntington Beach!

Before the girls scampered off to go find all the cute surfer guys they were dreaming about, I made everyone take a picture with me. (In case you haven't noticed in previous posts...GoPro group shots are my new favorite thing. So be prepared for a few more in this post, and probably in posts to come.)
Tyler and I were "lame" and just hung out waaaaaay down the beach with all the families. :)
After scoping out all the hotties, Holly & Kenzie came back to our side of the beach to swim!

Later that afternoon, Tyler and I braved the crowds and went down with the girls to check out all the festivities.
Call me boring, but there were way too many people for my liking.
And way too many bikini's on girls that really shouldn't have been wearing them. (yikes)
Watching the last surfers of the day

The next day was Sunday, so we hit up the local singles ward to try and convince Holly of all that a singles ward has to offer, (didn't work), then went to walk the Newport Beach temple grounds.
Unfortunately, the grounds were closed for cleaning, so we just snagged a few pics outside of the gates.

Then we drove up the coast a bit and ended  at Seal Beach. We walked the pier and watched some boogie-boarders catch some gnarly waves.

Monday morning we packed up and drove down to San Diego, heading back to Yuma.
We hit up two beaches along the way, but decided (after getting pounded a few times) that the water was way too rough that day, and hit the road home a little early.
 Soakin' up some rays

Drying off before the trip back.

I am so happy that Holly chose us to take her on a little "Senior trip", I really had a good time!
(Although, I can't say the same for Tyler...I think being the driver/parent of the trip was a little too stressful to be enjoyable. ;) )

Thanks for the memories Holly & Kenzie, you two are the cutest!!
